The awards will be presented Saturday, October 10 at the Marriott Charleston Town Center, in Charleston, WV. Jim and Rachel Britts have spent their lives working with teens: Rachel as a high school teacher and Jim as Next Generation Pastor at New Song Community Church. Both graduates of Biola University, Jim attended the prestigious film school — and later got involved in youth work dedicating his time to mentoring and caring for teenagers. Rachel, whose desire is to encourage creativity through writing and literature, shared her passion with Jim to write a story that could both help and inspire teens.
“Rachel and I really just wanted to empower teenagers to reach out to the hurting and lonely on their campus and literally be able to change the world by saving a life,” explains Jim. “We are honored to be nominated for this award and hope that this will help get this book in the hands of more teens.”
To Save a Life is the story of an all-star athlete, Jake Taylor. After a childhood friend’s death, Jake’s world spins out of control and he has to make changes in his life and sacrifice some dreams to save the lives of others.
